RMDD hands over 13 National Awards to CM

Gangtok, 21 Sept [IPR]: National awardees of Rural Management & Development Department called on Chief Minister Pawan Chamling at his official residence today.

The group, led by RMDD Minister, SB Subedi, and including Secretary DR Nepal, handed over 13 National Awards won under various categories during Financial Year 2018-19 to the CM. The national awards were received in all State, District, Gram Panchayat and Institutional level during various National award distribution ceremonies.

The awards include National Award under MGNREGA, State Award for Transparency & Accountability, Best Performing Gram Panchayat by Kitam Manpur Gram Panchayat, Skoch Gold Award for Dhara Vikas, Skoch Award of Merit for Dhara Vikas, Best State for E- Panchayat by Directorate of Panchayat, State Institute of Rural Development [SIRD], Karfectar for Capacity Building, Deen Dayal Upadaya Panchayat Shashaktikaran Puraskar for South District Zilla Panchayat, Namphing Gram Panchayat [Temi Block, South District] & Martam Gram Panchayat [Hee-Martam Block, West Sikkim], Best Gram Panchayat Development Plan [GPDP] by Maniram Phalidara Gram Panchayat, Nanaji Desmukh Rastrya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar by Tingvong Gram Panchayat [Dzongu Block, North Sikkim], Best Performing SHGs and Village Organizations [Federation] under National Rural Livelihood Mission [NRLM] by Khamdong Block SHG and Nanaji Desmukh Rastrya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar by Tingvong Gram Panchayat [Dzongu Block, North Sikkim].

The CM, while receiving the awards, congratulated everyone for their hard work which has resulted in such recognition.

“The State is front runner in many sectors at the National level. However, the department should strive to be the best in all spheres and set a benchmark for ourselves. All officials, individual and Institutions should work hand in hand to ensure the last mile delivery of public services,” he said.

Secretary, RMDD, Mr Nepal, while handing over the National Awards said that Sikkim is among the best performing States in many sectors under rural development and these National Awards are the result of hard work and dedication.

He added that the awards and accolades received by the department are all because of the pro-people, pro-development and good governance initiated under the visionary leadership of the CM.
