Singtam SSS SAATHI club organizes debate competition

Gangtok, 22 Sept:

SAATHI (Sikkim against Addiction towards Healthy India) club of Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Singtam organized an Inter-House Nepali Debate Competition today as a part of the school’s weekly extra-curricular activities, a press release informs.

Red house took on Green house on the topic “saving property for the bright future of children is better than providing better education to them?”

Blue house took on Yellow house on the topic “areextra-curricular activities good for students?”

The chief guest of the day was Swaminath Prasad of Rangpo[president of Sikkim Bihari Jagran Manch].

Journalist Sanjay Agarwal andgeneral secretary of Vidhya Bharati-Sikkim, Bijay Dhital, were present as the Jury Members for the Competition, the release mentions.

SAATHI Peer Educators headed by Sumit Sharma of Class XI (Sci) performed a small skit on impact of substance abuse for the youth.

Babita Thapa of Class XI who is the 2nd runner –up of Himali-Pratibha ko Khoj (Season 2) presented a beautiful song on the occasion.

At the end of the programme, all the invited guests and jury members were presented with mementos.

Principal, KB Chettri in his address thanked Swaminath Prasad who is always eager to help the school. He also thanked Sanjay Agarwal and Bijay Dhital for sparing precious time for the programme. He also thanked members of the staff and students for making today’s programme a grand success.
