Gangtok, 25 Sept:
A Hamro Sikkim Party [HSP] delegation called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the evening of 23 September [Sunday] at Raj Bhawan here.
The delegation welcomed the Prime Minister and submitted a memorandum on issues related with Sikkim, an HSP press release informs.
The HSP delegation comprised of vice presidents Bhaichung Bhutia, RB Subba and Dr. Bina Basnett, former Minister KN Upreti and spokesperson Biraj Adhikari.
The HSP memorandum has demanded restoration of the lost Nepali seats in the Assembly and tribal status for the 11 left-out communities of Sikkim. The HSP has also demanded early reservation of Limboo-Tamang seats in the Assembly.
The HSP memorandum also reportedly alleges that the State government was misusing Central funds allocated for development of Sikkim. Corruption has also been alleged in development of hydel power projects.
Such misuse of funds has been already published in CAG Reports over the years but has not been taken up by the Centre, the HSP states. The HSP delegation demanded that a Central probe be initiated into all the corruption allegations.
