Teachers’ Conference on Innovative Classroom Teaching Learning Practices

Gangtok, 25 Sept:

A teachers’ conference on “Innovative Classroom Teaching Learning Practices in the State of Sikkim,” a first for Sikkim, was held at DIET here today.

The conference sought to facilitate innovations and experimentations in classroom teaching which could lead to improvement in teaching learning process; encourage and support teachers to adopt innovative teaching practices to enhance quality of education; provide a forum for teachers to share and discuss their innovative practices leading to augmentation of their professional development.

An official press release informs that the conference was presided over by Director, SCERT, Dr. Rabin Chettri, and had 13 Teacher Presenters from different schools of North and East districts.

Additional Chief Secretary, HRDD, GP Upadhyaya, was present as chief guest for the valedictory programme which was also attended by the Director, Primary Education/ SPD, Samagra Shiksha, BhimThatal, Joint Director of East District, Deputy Director, North District, Deputy Directors of SCERT, Principals of DIETs, South and West , Faculty members of SCERT, Block Resource Centre Co-ordinators of East and North Districts and Heads of participating schools. 

The Director, SCERT, in his observations on the day’s proceedings, spoke of involving all the DIETs and organizing the programme at the state-level in the future.

He said, “The efforts of individual teachers are worth celebrating and replicating.”

He congratulated the organizing Institute for being a pioneer in organizing such a noble and important event.

Additional Chief Secretary, HRDD, in his address, remarked, “The 13 teacher presenters of the day are the real heroes of the programme. Everyone has talent but we only have to make them aware of it. When there is fragrance in the flower, it will spread the fragrance. Similarly, good deeds will never go to waste and will be recognised.”

He also spoke of the presentations as being a treat to the eyes and that the innovative practices of these teachers should be disseminated throughout the State.

The Institute has expressed gratitude towards the endless support and guidance of the Additional Chief Secretary, HRDD, Director, SCERT, Director, Primary Education-cum- SPD, SamagraShiksha and all the invitees and participants.
