Sensitisation workshop at Rinchenpong underlines mission to eliminate TB
Rinchenpong, 25 Sept [IPR]: A sensitization workshop, “Sikkim Towards Elimination of TB by 2022,” was held here at Rinchenpong community hall in West Sikkim today.
Dr. Bikash Pradhan (DTO) presented an overview on TB and detailed efforts towards active case finding, systems of sputum collection, 99 DOTS mobile online entry system of patients being provided medicines, early BCG vaccination, ventilated rooms for TB patients, precaution disposing sputum and finally building partnership with administrative department, Governments, NGOs for elimination of this disease.
Speaking on collective effort and coordination, CMO Dr. T. Namgyal stressed on the need to constitute a committee for “line-listing” and called on all to be responsible with strong commitment towards elimination of TB.
He also highlighted the Proud Mother Scheme, HPV vaccination, WIFS, RBSK, Mission Indradanush, and improvement in services, manpower, facilities and functionaries att District Hospital Gyalshing and Primary Health Centres.
In his address, the BDO urged Panchayats towards active case finding on TB as ongoing CATCH programme was more approachable.
West Zilla Upa Adhyaksha, Ashok Kumar Gurung, chaired the workshop as chief guest.
In his address, he called for combined efforts and measures by all departments and private sector to eliminate TB from the State. The CM, he pointed out, had set a target for this in line with WHO guidelines and was hopeful that the target will be achieved ahead of the deadline.
The Zilla Upadhyaksha also initiated a productive interaction session mid-session and everyone took active part and many fruitful suggestions emerged.
Workshop was organised by Rinchenpong PHC and District Hospital Gyalshing.
