2019 elections will pit money versus mandate: Golay

Makha, 25 Sept:

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) convened a constituency-level meeting today at Makha Bazaar in East Sikkim. Also on the day, the constituency-level party office was inaugurated at Makha Bazar.

Addressing the gathering, the SKM party president, PS Tamang [Golay], claimed that the people of Sikkim will not be lured by money any more as they were wholeheartedly supporting the SKM this time.

He urged all the party workers and youth to be actively involved in party's activities, stating that the 2019 election will be a contest between money and mandate.

He also addressed what he called SDF rumour mongering that he will not be allowed to contest the 2019 election and urged the people not to believe it.

“I am ready to sacrifice everything for the people of Sikkim,” he said while alleging that SDF was playing communal among the people.

About the prospective party candidates, he said that he will not be choosing the candidates and that the decision will be left to the people.

SKM working president, Navin Karki, in his address, said that SKM will establish a Nursing College in Tumin-Lingee constituency after formation of its government.

Also at the function, 230 people from Tumin-Lingee constituency joined SKM. Supporters from Singtam-Khamdong and Kabi-Lungtsok constituencies also attended the function which was also adressed by working president MP Subba, senior vice-president TN Dhakal, Kado Tshering Bhutia, Sangha MLA Sonam Lama and general secretary, North/ East Tshering Lepcha.

Earlier, the function began with a welcome address by Lall Man Subba, CLC president, Tumin-Lingee constituency.
