51 runners race in Low Altitude Monsoon Marathon
Gangtok, 26 Sept:
Fifty-one runners from within and outside the State participated in the Low Altitude Monsoon Marathon held at Pelling in West Sikkim today. The 6 KM marathon, held on the theme, ‘Go Organic,’ was part of the state-level World Tourism Day 2018 celebration which got underway in Pelling today.
The marathon had participants from different parts of Sikkim along with runners from Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Kurseong.
In men’s category, Bikash Bhujel stood on the first position clocking in at 23:41 minutes, while another runner from Kalimpong, Uttam Bhujel, finished on the second position with a timing of 24:11 minutes and Hemant Limboo from Darjeeling came third at 25:23 minutes.
Likewise, in women’s category, Anjali Subba from Gangtok finished the marathon on the first position with timing of 33:14 minutes and Siksha Rai from Darjeeling came second with a timing of 34:20 minutes and Chandra Kala Sharma from Gangtok third at 35:15 minutes.
The marathon was flagged off by the Tourism Minister Ugen T Gyatso Bhutia.
