MANGAN, 27 Sept:
Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Swayem, North Sikkim observed Swachhata Pakhwada and Rastriya Poshan Maah on Wednesday at the school conference hall.
Deputy Speaker SLA cum Area MLA,Sonam Gyatso Lepcha was the chief guest of the function. Director Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India,Gopal Sadhwani, attended the programme as special guest accompanied by Sonam Lepcha [Director Text book, Exam and Scholarship HRDD], D Pradhan [JointDirector HRDD North], Theney Bhutia [Up-adhakshya North], Norden Lepcha [Joint Director Welfare Department], Zilla and Panchayat members of the Namok Swayem ZPU/GPU, SMC members were invited as special guests.
An awareness rally was carried out from Deythang to EMRS Swayem with all the dignitaries, students and teachers.
Principal EMRS Swayem,DB Mishra, addressed the gathering and welcomed the guests. All the guests shared their opinions on the programme and issues of EMRS. Students presented a colourful cultural programme.
Inspector Nutrition cell gave a valuable talk to the gathering on nutrition and its values.
The chief guest requested the Director to resolve some issues related to the school and also urged him to fulfil demands like auditorium, football stadium, boundary wall, gate and teachers quarters. He also informed that Joint Director, HRDD should visit all the schools of Dzongu and North Sikkim to take stock of the situation in schools located in remote areas.
Director MoTA, Mr Sadhwani has assured that the demands will be taken up and the Ministry will try to fulfil them in the next budget.
Lastly, the programme concluded with vote of thanks by Lendup Dorjee Lepcha [Teacher EMRS].
