PTA and SMC meet at Sombaria School

The annual general meeting between parents, school staff and SMC members was hosted by Sombaria Government School at its auditorium on Saturday, 29 Sept.
The meeting discussed the overall functioning and development of the school and the students, formation of the new School Managing Committee and general awareness on POCSO Act and substance abuse.
The Principal spoke on various issues pertaining to the overall functioning of the school and called for even wider participation of stakeholders, infrastructural modifications and development required and need for assets and manpower.
Norbu Bhutia, a school staff, fielded queries regarding text books, uniform etc provided by the department.
The meeting was attended by Zilla Adyaksha (West) Devika Subba, Assistant Director, HRDD, Daramdin Constituency, AB Subba, Principal RK Pandey, Zilla Panchayat member Bimla Rai, Sub Inspector, Sombaria PS, Avinash Lamichaney, senior citizen SR Chandak, Panchayat Presidents and Members of various GPUs and Wards, the School's teaching and non-teaching staff and parents.
Also on the day, the previous SMC was dissolved and a new SMC established comprising of Bimla Rai as president, the School principal as secretary and more than 50 members from various wards of the constituency.
The day's programme also included a role-play by students from the SAATHI team of the school themed, 'Say No to Drugs and Alcoholism' followed by a power-point presentation on addiction, a theme which was also addressed by PI Avinash Lamichaney who also spoke about POCSO Act.
The West Zilla Adyaksha spoke on the developmental aspects of the school.
