In commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department organized a ‘KaviSammelan’ at the Mini Theatre inManan Kendra on 29 Sept.
Secretary,Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department,AmbikaPradhan, who attended the event as chief guest, highlighted on the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi which has influenced civil right leaders. Thus, she urged people especially the youth to draw inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s life and asked them to emulate it in their lives.
Twenty eminent and amateur poets from all over the State participated in the Sammelan by rendering their compositions on the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. The poems which were based on the theme ‘Mahatma Gandhi: his life, philosophy and works’ were read out in Hindi, Nepali and Gurung languages.
All participating poets were presented with Certificates [PramanPatra]. The poems will be compiled and published by the Cultural Affairs and Heritage Department, it is informed.
