Medical Group-D employees resolve to continue demand for promotions
Gangtok, 03 Oct:
The All Sikkim Medical Group-D Government Employees Welfare Association convened a state-level meeting here at the European Union Hall of STNM Hospital on 02 Oct.
The meeting was attended by group D staff of Health Department from different parts of the State and discussed various common issues.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, the association chief advisor, Ramdas Nepal, informed that the meeting mainly discussed the issue of promotion of group-D staff of the department.
He informed that the association has been raising this issue for a long time with all the concerned authorities but no action has been taken yet. He informed that some group-D staff of the department have been working on the same post for 42 years now and some have offered more than 30 years of service and many retired without a promotion.
Mr Nepal stated that the meeting resolved to approach the Department once again with their demand to either create posts for them in the medical cadre or give them promotion like in other department.
He stated that the meeting has also decided to approach the courts if a positive assurance does not come from the department.
