Sikkim Sanskritik Manch announces Lekhan Pratibha ko Khoj

After the success of two seasons of ‘Himali Pratibha Ko Khoj,’ talent-hunt competitions for singers and dancers, Sikkim Sanskritik Manch has now announced plans to organize ‘Lekhen Pratibha Ko Khoj 2018’ for those with an aptitude for writing and painting.
Sikkim Sanskritik Manch is the cultural front of the Sikkim Democratic Front.
The decision to organize this new contest was taken during a meeting of the Manch held under the chairmanship of the Speaker KN Rai, who is also the chief patron of the event, here at SDF Bhawan on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference, SSM president, Chandra Khaling, mentioned that the main objective of this new competition was to inculcate the habit of wider reading and writing among students.
He informed that the writing competition will accept entries of essays, short stories and poems in different categories.
He added that the essay writing, short story writing and poetry competition for secondary and senior secondary school students will be held at the district-level while the college and university and open categories will be held at the state-level.
Entries can be submitted either in English or Nepali.
The painting competition will be held in two categories – one for artists up to class X and the other category will be open.
The competition carries a prize money of Rs 25,000 for the winner, Rs 20,000 for the first runner-up, Rs 15,000 for second runner-up and a Rs 10,000 consolation prize for competitions in the district-level.
Likewise, cash prizes of Rs 30,000 to first position, Rs 25,000 to second, Rs 20,000 to third and consolation prize of Rs 10,000 in the college level and cash prize of Rs 50,000 to first, Rs 30,000 to second, Rs 20,000 to third and consolation prize of Rs 10,000 in the university and open category.
