Governor flags in ITBP Mountaineering Expedition team
Gangtok, 12 Oct:
Governor Ganga Prasad today flagged in the Frontier Level Mountaineering Expedition ‘Vijay 2018’ organised by Indo Tibetan Border Police at a special ceremony held at New Raj Bhavan, informs a press release.
Dy. Inspector General, Sector Headquarter, ITBP Gangtok, KDDwivedi, Commandant 13thBn ITBP, Anil Kumar Phool, Dy. Commandant and team leader of the expedition, Parikshit Shah, officers of Raj Bhavan, team members of expedition and other officials of ITBP were present on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that a special mountaineering team of ITBP had recently scaled a virgin peak of 6270 meter altitude in North Sikkim.
The Governor while addressing the team members of the expedition, lauded their achievement and said that adventure and sports add purpose to life of every individual and helps one set goals. Such adventure will greatly benefit the personnel’s self-confidence and builds trust and team spirit.
Sportsman spirit helps everyone to overcome anxiety, stress and helps face ups and downs in our life with positive spirit. This is the reason why adventures, sports and games are made integral part of career in Armed Forces,the Governor added.
While mentioning about the sacrifices of ITBP to safeguard our motherland bracing extreme conditions along Indo China border,he also acknowledged their bravery and spirit of patriotism.
The Governor also underlined Sikkimese way of living in harmony with nature and expressed the pleasure that ITBP personnel posted in Sikkim have also imbibed this way of life. He also extended good wishes for their future expeditions and camps.
