42nd Sakya Trizin to visit Sikkim in Oct-end
Gangtok, 22 Oct:
The supreme head of the Sakyapa order of Mahayana Buddhism, Sakya Trizin, will be visiting Sikkim on the request of the monasteries and followers here. This is his first official visit to Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Sikkim since his enthronement as the 42nd Sakya Trizin in March 2017, a press release informs.
On assuming the charge of SakyaTrizin, His Holiness taught Lamdre, the most profound lineage teachings of Sakyapa, to over 700 monks for about two months at Sakya Centre in Dehradun. He has been giving teachings in Europe, USA, South East Asian countries, Mongolia, etc.
Sakya Trizin will be arriving in Gangtok on 29 Oct and will stay at Sa-Ngor Chotshog Centre [Ngor Gonpa].
During his ten-daylong stay in the State, he will be giving teachings at Pal Karma Zurmang Shedrup Cho Khorling Monastery in Lingdum, Sera Jhe Dhonpheling Monastery, Sakya Tsechu Tsokpa, Derge Mani DungdrupTshogpa Temple, Rabongla Sakya Monastery and will also visit TathagathaTsal, Khuenpheling Tibetan Settlement and holy place of Tashiding to offer prayers for world peace.
Sakya Trizin will also visit Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and give a talk on Buddhism.
Further, he will pay courtesy calls on Governor Ganga Prasad and Chief Minister PawanChamling.
While in the capital, Sakya Trizin will bestow initiations and transmission to the monks of the Sa-Ngor Chotshog Centre and public sermons [Tsewang] on the occasion of Lhabab Suechen on 31 Oct and initiation, transmission and explanation of Guru Tsigduen Zabdrub [Seven Verse] on 01 Nov at Ngor Gonpa at 1.30 pm on both days.
