Sikkim team all set for North East Olympic Games 2018


Gangtok, 22 Oct:

Sikkim Olympic Association team has left for Manipur on 21 Oct to represent Sikkim in the 1st edition of North East Olympic Games 2018 scheduled to be held from 24-28 Oct at Imphal in Manipur. Sikkim will be participating in Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Football [men and women], Karate, Table tennis, Taekwondo, Weight Lifting and WushuToalu [women] and WushuSanshoia [men].

The State contingent comprises of 141 players, 13 coaches, 11 managers, 07 technical officials and 05 delegates. The team is accompanied by president, BK Roka, and general secretary, JaslallPradhan, as officials and KuberBhandari as chef de-mission, BB Subba as deputy chef de-mission and DawaTamang as observer.

While expressing his best wishes to the State team members, State Youth Development Board Chairperson, Khem Prasad Dahal, encouraged the athletes to maintain good discipline and bring medals and laurels for the State with their performance.

The SOA president expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister PawanChamlingfor his support. He also thanked the Secretary of Sports & Youth Affairs Department, SD Dhakal, for providing financial grant for sending the Sikkim contingent for the NE Olympic Games.

It is informed that the first ever North East Olympic Games will have the participation of all top ranking players of the North Eastern States as per the Olympic Charter.
