Aakraman FC ready for battle this Governor’s Gold Cup


Gangtok, 23 Oct:

One of the strongest football squads of Sikkim, Sikkim Aakraman FC, is all set to battle Sogolband United, Manipurin the 38th All Indian Governor’s Gold Cup International Football Tournament 2018 here at Paljor Stadium at 2p.m. on 25 Oct.

Organised by Sikkim Football Association [SFA], the Governor’s Gold Cup kicked off today and will continue till 03 Nov.

Speaking to SummitTimes, manager for Sikkim Aakraman FC, Khituk Tongden Lepcha, has extended gratitude to the fans for their support.

“Squad Aakraman FC is prepared to play against Sogolband United which is said to be one of the strongest teams from Manipur. Preparation for the first match on 25 Oct is in full swing. Players have been undergoing rigorous training under their coach, Shishir Karthak, for the past two weeks with special focus on fitness and game plan,”said Mr Lepcha.

Expressing hopes to clinch the champion’s title this year, Mr Lepcha added, “We have worked hard for the tournament and we believe that our efforts will not go in vain. Our squad had participated in Governor’s Gold Cup in the year 2016 but unfortunately lost in the semi finals. We will bounce back strong this year with positive vibes, enthusiasm and strong willpower.”

Mr Lepcha informed that Aakraman FC has only one player from outside [Ghana] and has appealed to all to come and support the team.
