First Level Checking of EVMs and VVPATs

Gangtok, 26 Oct:

The First Level Checking of 1020 EVMs and 1020 VVPATs of East district commenced from today at warehouse, CEO office, Baluwakhani, a press release from DC East informs.

Those present in the opening of the warehouse were District Election Officer (DEO) cum District Magistrate, East Sikkim, Additional District Collector/HQ, Under Secretary Election/East, representatives from various political parties, personnel from IPR, BEL engineers and election staff. D.E.O briefed and highlighted the background and importance of the FLC to the representatives of the political parties before the start of the FLC process.

The warehouse will be under strict security supervision of one section of the armed police (3rd IRBn) for 24*7 starting from today till the Upcoming Poll day (General Election-2019). Door Frame Metallic Detector (DFDM) has been installed in the FLC hall with proper security personnel of Special Branch deployed for this purpose.

The FLC shall start from 9 am till 7pm on all days including holidays as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI). The political parties have been requested to be present and witness the procedures involved in all FLC days including mock poll in randomly selected machines. The first level checking exercise is being undertaken under technical expertise of 10 BEL engineers and is expected to finish in next 8-10 days, the release mentions.
