Namchi, 01 Nov [IPR]: District Collector, South, Prabhakar Verma, chaired a review meeting with all the concerned line departments, members of Namchi Mahotsav Celebration Committee and stakeholders to take detailed stock for preparations of the upcoming Namchi Mahotsav celebration at Central Park today.
Also present were Advisor, Power & Energy Department, Gagan Rai, Senior Superintendent of Police, South, Shammi Rai, Assistant Superintendent of Police, South, Linda Palmu, Additional District Collector, South, Satyen Pradhan, heads of various departments and other stakeholders.
It may be mentioned here, the three-daylong celebration with the theme ‘Explore the ethnic beauty’ will commence from 03 Nov and will conclude on 05 Nov.
Speaking during the meeting, the DC informed that extra organic stalls will be put up in and around the DC road in order to cater to increasing demand of organic produce. Additionally, this year another major attraction will be a helicopter joy ride wherein visitors can take an exhilarating tour of Namchi and view the majestic Siddheshwara Dham, Samdruptse and Tendong Hill. Other highlights of the festival are Chrysanthemum competition cum exhibition, traditional stalls, rural sports, mountain biking, marathon, local talent hunt, traditional and modern cultural dance. On the concluding day of the Mahotsav celebration, renowned band ‘Mountain Souls’ will give their much awaited performance.
