International Conference on Synthetic Potent Molecule held at SMIT

A two-day-long International Conference on Synthetic Potent Molecule and Its Application [ICSPMIA 2018] was organized by the Department of Chemistry, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology [SMIT], in collaboration with the Royal Society of Chemistry, Eastern India Section on 30-31 Oct, a press release informs.

The conference was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor, Sikkim Manipal University, Lieutenant General [Dr] MD Venkatesh, in the presence of Director, CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad, Dr S Chandrasekhar, and Professor Paolo Scrimin from University of Padova, Italy as guests of honour.

Also present on the occasion were Prof [Dr] Ashis Sharma [Director, SMIT], Prof Pankaj Das [Dibrugarh University] and Dr Chaitali Basu [Executive member, Royal Society of Chemistry, Eastern India Section] and other resource persons.

Convener, ICSPMIA 2018, Dr Satadru Jha, highlighted the theme of the conference and contribution of synthetic potent molecule in shaping human life and its wide area of application.

Respected personalities like Dr S Chandrasekhar [Director, CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad], Prof Paolo Scrimin [University of Padova, Italy], Prof Pankaj Das [Dibrugarh University], Dr Amiya Kumar Panda [Vidyasagar University], Dr SouvikMaiti [CSIR-IGIB, Delhi] covered topics like scarce natural product relevant to health, Cooperativity in Chemistry, Synthesis of Au and Pdnanaoparticles and their application, Physiochemical studies of nonlipid carrier and Micro RNA.

Researchers from India and abroad participated in the conference and shared their research outcomes beneficial to the pharmaceutical and chemical sector during technical sessions.

Such conferences are being organized in SMIT to inculcate a research culture and to benefit the students.

Impressed by good infrastructure and research culture, invited eminent scientists have shown their keen interest in collaborating with SMIT for future R&D activities, the release adds.
