Sports & Youth Affairs Minister, RB Subba, today visited Paljor Stadium in the morning when the “Kids to Pitch” initiative was underway there. Kids to Pitch opens Paljor Stadium exclusively to kids from 7 to 9 every Sunday morning.
Minister Subba was welcomed by initiative chief coordinator Thupden Rapgyal and other members.
He took a tour of the ground where the kids were playing and learning about football. He also interacted with the kids at the pitch and delivered a short motivational talk.
Speaking to media-persons later, the Minister expressed his happiness over the initiative taken by the group of like-minded persons to engage the kids every Sunday in sporting activities.
“I feel that they are creating the future citizens of Sikkim and India, I wish them all the best,” he said.
Minister Subba said he has already informed the Chief Minister about the initiative.
“I feel we should create some funds under SYA Department for these youngsters so they are encouraged,” he said.
“Sport teaches discipline and it will help to create a disciplined society of the 21st century,” he said.
