Chhath Puja will be public holiday under SKM: Golay

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha president PS Tamang [Golay] today said that when his party comes to power Chhath Puja will be declared a public holiday instead of a restricted holiday. He said this while greeting the people of Sikkim on the occasion of Chhath Puja, an SKM release informs.
Mr Tamang also attended the Chhath Puja Celebrations at Jorethang Bazaar where he was invited as the chief guest of the celebration by the business community of Jorethang, the release mentions.
He was welcomed with miniature table lamps, the party’s election symbol, at the event.
This is for the first time that the business community has openly invited an opposition leader, the release states.
Another press release from the party informs that Mr Tamang also visited Rangrang-Yangang constituency in South Sikkim today.
While addressing the party cadre, he criticized the Chief Minister for humiliating temporary employees by not turning up at the programme organized by them on 11 Nov at Saramsa even after having agreed to attend it.
He said that this has deeply hurt the sentiments of government employees across the state, the release adds.
Mr Tamang also accused the CM of neglecting Rangrang Yangang constituency despite being born there.
He said that the people have made up their minds to vote for SKM this time to uproot the 25-year rule of Sikkim Democratic Front. He called for united efforts from all and directed the party workers to follow party directives sincerely, the release informs.
