Namchi, 13 Nov:

In the series of Election Awareness Programmes organised by the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of Namchi Government College, the ELC students performed a street play at Kitam Bazar today.

The play was aimed to generate awareness among residents and students of classes XI and XII from Kitam Senior Secondary School, Namchi.

The programme was attended by Kitam Manpur GPU Panchayat President Savitri Chettri, Panchayat members, members of Munal Club, Kitam, Teachers and Students of Kitam Sr. Sec. School and local residents, police personnel and other officials.

The Campus Ambassador, Dr Tsewang Gyatso Bhutia, from the college briefed the gathering on the theme of the play and its relevance as the entire nation prepares for General Elections 2019.

The play focussed on spreading awareness among differently-abled citizens since the theme of National Voters’ Day 2018 is Accessible Elections.

Using the medium of street-play, the students encouraged women electors, young and future voters to exercise their right to vote with confidence and with a democratic spirit.

The play has been organised under the guidance of Namchi District Election Department as part of Mass Election Awareness of ECI.

Additionally, awareness was also generated on National Voters Service Portal (NVSP), Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) Form 6, 6A, 7, 8, 8A and on other relevant Electoral exercises.
