Children’s Day at Mamring School

Gangtok, 14 Nov:

Today on the occasion of the 129th Birth Anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, Mamring Senior Secondary School, East Sikkim, celebrated Children's Day in the school premises, a press release informs.

A colourful program was organised for the students of the school by the teachers and administrative staff of the school. The programme started with a warm welcome speech by Vice Principal,I P Khatiwara.

Inter House Dance and singing competition including Lepcha, Bhutia and Nepali dance and singing competition was held. A ramp walk by teachers and students was also held. Solo songs by students as well as teachers were also presented in the program.

Balloon bursting, cock fighting, sweet picking, book balancing, etc were some of the events held for the students. Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the culture and sports competitions.

Winner of the dance competition was Red House represented by Trishna and group with Nepali Maruni Dance and 2nd position went to Green House represented by Dawki and group with Bhutia Dance. In the singing competition, Lhamit Lepcha of Yellow House secured 1st position and Jiwan Dahal of Blue House stood 2nd, the release informs.

Staff of the school also presented their cultural dance items.

Delicious meal prepared by the teachers and staff of the school were served to all the students.
