Rotary Club installs sanitary napkin vending machine in Rhenock College

Gangtok, 15 Nov:

Rotary Club of Gangtok installed a sanitary napkin vending machine at Government College, Rhenock, yesterday, a press release informs.

Principal, Dr Iyaata Uprety, and college staff welcomed and thanked the Rotary Club for this donation.

Dr. Renu Verma of Rotary Club, Gangtok, addressed the gathering and addressed the taboos and myths associated with menstruation and explained the importance of menstrual hygiene. She also requested students to take up adult education in their society on one-to-one basis and strengthen Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM).

Another Rotary member, Asha Kiran, coordinated the interactive session and also spoke on the ills of spitting indiscriminately.

Anti-spitting posters were also released on the occasion.

Aswin Oberoi, who is the Club’s Chairman for Youth Services, spoke on the Rotaract movement and invited students to try and start a Rotaract Club in their college.

Rotary Club of Gangtok has two Rotaract Clubs under its banner at present - Rotaract Club of SRM University Sikkim and Rotaract Club of Gangtok Royale.

Rotary Club of Gangtok is celebrating its golden jubilee year this year.
