Six including one-yr-old killed in fatal road mishap

Namchi, 19 Nov:

Six people were killed in a fatal road accident that took place at Lower Tarku in South Sikkim on 18 Nov evening.

Driver of the vehicle, Bhim Rai [30] along with Chandra Bahadur Gurung [48] and Nar Bahadur Gurung [58] died on the spot while Tilak Gurung [45], Nar Maya Gurung [45] succumbed to their injuries at Namchi District Hospital. One-year-old Joel Gurung died at Central Referral Hospital in Gangtok.

The vehicle [Mahindra Max[ bearing registration number SK/01/J/0888 carrying 12 occupants reportedly tumbled 350 ft below the road near Mangley at Lower Tarku in South Sikkim. The vehicle was plying towards Yangang from Namthang after attending a marriage ceremony.

Other injured occupants are Nirman Gurung [37], Dil Rupa Gurung [28], Man Bahadur Gurung [30], Dawa Diki Gurung [22], Devi Lal Gurung [05], Aukshana Gurung [04] and Tanush Gurung. They are admitted at Singtam Hospital for treatment.

The case is registered Temi PS u/s 279, 338, 304 ‘A’ IPC, against driver of the vehicle.
