Kabi Lungchok MLA hits back at SKM MLAs

Gangtok, 21 Nov:

Kabi Lungchok MLA, Ugen Nedup Bhutia, today refuted allegations made by two sitting MLAs of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha during an SKM party meeting held at Phensong in North Sikkim on 18 Nov and said that all the allegations were unfounded and without any substance.

The SKM MLAs,Kunga Nima Lepcha and Sonam Lama, while addressing the gathering at Phensong had accused the Kabi-Lungchok MLA of betraying the public and had termed him as a ‘fraud’ who sold his conscience for money [‘Rs4 crore’].

It may be mentioned that the Kabi Lungchok MLA was elected on an SKM ticket and in 2015 switched to SDF.

While addressing party workers, SKM MLA, Mr Lepcha, had reportedly described the Kabi-Lungchok MLA as a‘fraud candidate’ who had damaged the image of SKM.

The Kabi-Lungchok MLA has demanded an apology from the two MLAs or substantiate their allegations with proof.

He has said that if they fail to apologise publicly or prove their allegations, he willsue them in appropriate court of law for maligning his image.

“The Indian Constitution has guaranteed freedom of speech. However, being public representatives, they shouldn’t have crossed their laxman rekha,” said MrBhutia.

He further added, “I have no ill-feelings for them or their party but they should not have crossed the limit. People know me. If I had cheated my people, they would not have voted for me.”
