West cops nab thief cook

Gangtok, 21 Nov:

Gyalshing Police arrested one Arun Chettri allegedly involved in a theft case.

The accused, who hails from Darjeeling,was employed as a cook for Keshav Chhetri in Yuksom, West Sikkim. He reportedly made away with Rs11,67,150 from Mr Chhetri’s resident.

After receiving a complaint, four teams were formed by Gyalshing Police. One team was sent to Darjeeling while other teams were deployed for extensive search in the area.

Today, the Police nabbed the accused from Gyalshing stand in a taxi vehicle bound for Siliguri along with the aforementioned amount.

The accused then accepted that due to heavy nakabandi and checking, he could not escape so he stayed in Pelling on 20 Nov and had planned to escape today.
