Gangtok, 22 Nov:
A 28-member team of Sikkim Himalayan Sporting Club [SHSC] is all set to participate in the Under-18 Youth I-League 2018 slated to kick off on 28 Nov at Imphal Stadium in Manipur. The league will conclude on 02 Dec.
The U-18 Youth I-League is being organised by All India Football Federation [AIFF]. This is SHSC’s second time at the league. The first was in 2015-16 here at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok.
The team is being led by two coaches, PushpaGurung&PranaySubba, accompanied by manager,SonamDadulDenzongpa. The squad will leave for Manipur on 23 Nov from the State.
Founder, SHSC,TenzingLamtha, has extended his best wishes to the squad for the league.
“The SHSC team is prepared to give its best in the league. I am confident that they will lift the champion’s title by beating other opponent teams,” said MrLamtha.
Coach PushpaGurung informed that the players have trained for the league rigorously while expressing hope for their win.
“The team management is without any doubt the best. This Youth I-League is important for the players because through this league, they have a greater chance to switch to big national tournaments,” expressed MrGurung.
It may be mentioned here, the first match of SHSC is scheduled for 28 Nov against Trau FC [Manipur].
The Zonal round on 28 Nov has four teams playing namely Aizawl FC [Manipur], SHSC [Sikkim], Trau FC [Manipur] and Nerola FC [Manipur]. The winner of this round will proceed to next round, the date of which has not been finalized yet.
