An international literary programme as Bharat-Nepal Sahitya Sangam 2018 organised by Press Club of Sikkim in association with Patrakar Manch Namchi along with Dakshin Sikkim Sahitya Sammelan (DSSM) was held today here at Officer’s Club Namchi.
The programme was attended by renowned litterateurs from Nepal, Darjeeling and Sikkim. The renowned Nepali poet, Ninu Chapagai, Matrika Pokhrel, Purushottam Acharya, Ranendra Baraily, Jewan Sharma, Sita Sharma, Sangeet Shrota Khagendra Khushi, Indra Regmi, Bimal Niva were present. Likewise, Kamal Bhattarai, and Kiran Kambang from Darjeeling along with the renowned poet and author from Namchi, T Nepal, Dr. Parshuram Poudyal, Dr. Nayan Rai, Lopzang Lama, Chandra Khaling and other poets and members of DSSM also attended the programme.
During the programme, members of the organizing committee gave warm welcome to the guests which was followed by poetry recitation (kavi ghosti) and interaction with the delegates on issues of Nepali sahitya in both India and Nepal.
Addressing the function, chief guest Gagan Rai welcomed all the guests and said that this sahitya sangam will bring writers and poets of the two nations together for the betterment of Nepali sahitya. He also said that such programmes will encourage the youth who are passionate about Nepali literature.
He also talked about the decline in Nepali literature which, he said, is a big issue for both the nations. Mr Rai also appreciated the initiative taken by the organising team of the programme and extended his best wishes.
The programme was also addressed by president PCS, Joseph Lepcha, general secretary, Puran Tamang and chief advisor DSSM.
