Governor attends prelude to Temi Tea’s golden jubilee celebrations
Namchi, 26 Nov (IPR): Governor Ganga Prasad and the first lady Kamala Devi attended the prelude of the golden jubilee celebrations at Temi Tea garden today.
The Governor visited the Temi Tea factory and engaged with the factory workers, gauged the various organic tea production processes and tasted a variety of teas, including the final autumn flush.
Addressing the gathering later, the Governor congratulated the Temi Tea fraternity for successfully completing 50 years and applauded how the tea garden has flourished since its inception in 1969. He attributed this to the hard work of the tea garden workers, stakeholders and the State Government.
He encouraged the garden workers to work with diligence, mindful of Temi Tea’s unique legacy as the premium organic tea garden of Sikkim.
The Governor and the first lady also distributed the various aids to the tea garden workers as part of the golden jubilee celebrations.
The Governor was escorted by Managing Director Mrinalini Srivastava, Manager LT Bhutia and the tea garden workers.
Earlier, the Governor visited NHPC Teesta Stage V Hydro Electric Power Project at Balutar where the Chief Engineer In-Charge S Khatuwa briefed the Governor on the production and various other aspects of the project.
