Golay marches off on Parivartan Sankalp Yatra

Gangtok, 29 Nov:

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha president, PS Tamang [Golay], teed off his party’s “Parivartan Sankalp Yatra,” his outreach tour scheduled to span the entire state, from Dodak under Daramdin constituency in West Sikkim today.

An SKM press release informs that the entire expense of the Yatra is being borne by people hosting the SKM meetings and that today as well, people of the area thanked Mr Tamang for his visit.

He was accorded a grand welcome by the people of the constituency and a constituency-level party office also inaugurated at Sombaria.

Mr Tamang conferred with the people of Okharey, Ribdi, Bhareng and surrounding areas and heard out their issues and grievances, the release informs.

In his address to party workers at the Sombaria party office, Mr Tamang explained that the Parivartan Sankalp Yatra was an important programme of the party to understand the condition of the people at the grassroots level, learn of their aspirations and to evaluate claims of the SDF government.

On the same, he alleged that development is reflected only on paper in Sikkim and that when it come to the villages, no real development has taken place.

He added that the party will be holding direct interactions with the people during the yatra to get a firmer grip of the situation on ground.

Mr Tamang lashed out against the SDF party for providing benefits to the people only when elections approach. His barb was clearly aimed at the upcoming string of Janta Melas in the State.

He also alleged that the CM was flexing money power to lure the people and went on to contend that central funds released for development were unfortunately being diverted to serve political ends.

He also reiterated SKM’s demand that the State government release arrears pending against the fifth pay commission before the upcoming festivals.
