Opposition alliance talks making SDF anxious: BJP Sikkim

Summit Report

GANGTOK, 29 Nov:

Bharatiya Janata Party Sikkim unit today strongly condemned the statement of Sikkim Democratic Front spokesperson, Bhim Dahal given in a press conference on Wednesday. The party has said that BJP does not need any analysis by Mr Dahal on the position of the state-unit of the party in the State.

In a press release, BJP Sikkim president, DB Chauhan has said that the BJP state-unit condemns the baseless and arrogant statement made by the SDF spokesperson and his colleagues that HSP and BJP are “zeros” in Sikkim politics.

While mentioning that BJP does not need any analysis by Mr Dahal, the release states that he does not have any standing to question the existence of BJP in Sikkim. Mr Chauhan has instead accused SDF of changing alliances at the centre like a chameleon just to secure the huge funds from the centre.

“Whenever Sikkim BJP raises the question about SDF party’s alliance with the NDA and NEDA they are silent. Neither the state unit of BJP nor the central BJP leadership wants SDF to be in NEDA and NDA,” the release adds. It is added that during his public address at Pakyong the Prime Minister exposed the amount of central funds provided to Sikkim which the Sikkimese people had been unaware of.

BJP state unit is now initiating talks of alliance with opposition parties of Sikkim and seeing these new political developments SDF is becoming anxious, the release states.

BJP Sikkim has challenged the SDF leadership to allow CBI into the State for independent inquiry into corruption charges.

BJP can think of an alliance with SDF only if CBI is allowed to investigate otherwise they should not dream of any possible alliance with BJP, the release adds.
