Teesta-IV HE Project in association with District Health Department, Mangan and Panchayat, Tingchim Chandey organised a multispecialty free health check-up camp on 27 and 29 Nov.
A press release informs that these medical camps were organised after conducting a detailed base line survey for entire GPU to determine the ailments the population was mostly suffering with. The base line survey was conducted by Teesta-IV with the help of Self Help Group (SHG) of the GPU over a period of two months and based on the findings of the survey these two medical camps were organised initially for two most affected wards i.e Tadong ward and Mola ward.
A team of specialist doctors led by Dr. Chultin Lepcha (Respiratory Medicine) from District Hospital, Singtam, Dr Upashna Gurung (Psychiatry),Dr Subhash Tamang (ENT), Dr. Ringzing D Bhutia (Dental) and Dr. Jennifer (GDMO, Dikchu) from District Hospital, Mangan provided consultation to about 170 patients on 27 Nov and about 100 patients on 29 Nov including children from adjoining schools. The prescribed medicines were arranged by NHPC Limited and were distributed free of cost to the patients, the release mentions.
The Medical Camps were inaugurated by T. Bhutia [Upadhyaksha, North] at Mola ward and S.Bhutia [Panchayat President at Tadong ward] in presence of officials from NHPC Limited and Health Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh Mukhiya, GM (I/c), Teesta-IV HE Project thanked all the visiting doctors from state government and local public for facilitating the successful conduction of camps. He informed that review camps shall also be organised shortly to ascertain the impacts of these two camps and improvement gained from the treatments.
On this occasion, the Psychiatry Department of District Hospital, Mangan organised a talk on “Community Mental Health Problems” wherein the specialists in this field, Dr Upashna Gurung and Sangam Sharma (Psychologist) delivered comprehensive awareness about the diseases and primary ways to tackle the same.
