Pahuna premieres in Gangtok


Gangtok, 06 Dec:

The much-awaited Nepali film, "Pahuna- the little visitors," premiered here today at Denzong Cinema hall with Tourism Minister Ugen T Gyatso present as chief guest.

The film, produced by Priyanka Chopra’s Purple Pebble Pictures and directed by Paakhi A Tyrewala, follows the story of two displaced children from Nepal who take refuge in Sikkim. The movie has been shot extensively in Sikkim and has two local kids, Ishika Gurung & Anmol Limbu, in lead roles.

Earlier, Minister Gyatso, accompanied by Ms Tyrewala, addressed the media.

During the press meet, the film director expressed gratitude towards the people for their generous support in making the film possible.

“The journey of making the movie has been phenomenal and we all had fun. Sikkim is going to be on the world map through this movie,” she said. In fact, the movie will take the two kids to the international platform, she added.

The Minister, in turn, said that the State Government invested Rs 80 lakh on the movie. He also clarified that the State was not upset or offended that the producer of the film, Priyanka Chopra, could not make it for the premiere since all are aware that she got married recently.

“We understand her situation and wish her a happy married life,” he said.

The press meet was also attended by Secretary of the concerned department, TT Bhutia, accompanied by the chief executive officer of Purple Pebble Pictures Production, Sandip Bhargava.

The film will release in major parts of India and Nepal tomorrow. It will be screened two shows at Denzong Cinema for a week from tomorrow onwards [11:00 am and 2:15pm].

The team has invited people to watch and enjoy the film. The entire program [screening of movie Pahuna] which was held today here at Denzong cinema hall was organised by the Tourism Department. During the function, the crew members of the movie were also introduced and offered the khadas by the Minister.
