Gangtok, 07 Dec:
Sikkim Krantikari Morch president, PS Tamang [Golay], interacted with people of Rabong and Gelling-Baiguney wards in West Sikkim during his on-going Parivartan Sankalp Yatra on Friday.
He took note of the various grievances and issues placed by people of these wards, informs an SKM press release.
The release informs that local people demanded sustainable development in the area instead of sops and government benefits.
The release adds that the SKM president alleged that the State government has neglected Gyandil Das Dham of Gelling which was presently lying in a pathetic condition and assured that an SKM government would transform it into a prime pilgrimage tourism site.
He also stated that the present government does not have any substantial programmes for the educated youth of Sikkim and added that farm producehas gone down due to organic farming but the government has not given them any compensation.
He also accused the ruling party for political murders and lashed out against the SDF government on other issues of the State.
Mr Tamang stressed the need for investigation by the CBI and independent agencies on corruption and other issues of Sikkim.
He mentioned that ‘Naya Sarkar, Naya Bikash’ was the slogan of the SKM party now.
He added that although SDF has been accusing SKM of being a ‘Goonda Party,’ retired government employees and intellectuals have been joining SKM and not SDF.
