Sikkim Rajya Manch celebrates ECI registration on first anniv
Sikkim Rajya Manch Party [SRMP] has been registered by the Election Commission of India as a political party under section 29(A) of the Representation of People Act 1951 with effect from26.11.2018.
A letter confirming the registration was sent to the SMRP president, Rup Narayan Chamling, by the ECI.
Sharing the update with journalists here at Rangpo, MrChamling stressed that the party was dedicated to the people of Sikkim.
“We had submitted an application to the ECI seeking registration immediately after our party was formed on 07 December, 2017 but the State government put hurdles and caused the delay. However, we kept up our efforts and finally got the ECI registration,” he said.
“We have applied for a party election symbol and out of the 10 options,one will be our symbol selected by the ECI.
It has been one year since the SRMP was formed and we thank the people for their support and encouragement. We will expect more support in coming days as we come before with our programs for the people. Our party is for the Sikkimese and it indeed is a clean party, it is our commitment to work for the interests of the people of Sikkim,” he said.
Asked on what he has to say to SDF and Chief Minister Pawan Chamling who is his elder brother, the SMRP president said every individual hasdifferent thoughts and beliefsand everyone as entitled to individuality.
“I have got nothing to say, I moved out of the family as things were being done in a careless manner in Sikkim. I came out concerned and in the interest of the people and state,” he said.
Now that the ECI registration has come through, the party will reach out to the people and seek their feedback on how to proceed further, he informed.
After Rangpo, the SMRP president moved on to Ranipool where the party celebrated its first anniversary.
