Golay inaugurates zonal office in Jorethang, receives slew of new converts

Gangtok, 14 Dec:

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party president, PS Tamang [Golay], inaugurated the zonal office of his party for South and West Districts at Jorethang in South Sikkim on Friday.

An SKM press release informs that on the occasion, former MLA and SDF party vice-president, BS Panth, a founding member of the ruling party, Shankar Agarwal, independent panchayats Om Nath Bhattari and Tara Sunam, SDF CEC members Sanjay Portel and Dhurba Gautam, former panchayat member, SB Limboo, BJP state unit advisor, BB Chettri, retired government and police officials and former teachers and others, along with 393 families aligned to the SDF from different constituencies joined SKM.

The release states that the party president alleged that the State government has been displaying partisan tendencies and was being unfair to Opposition parties which are give the run around when trying to organize meetings.

He also went on to allege that power supply to opposition functions have also been cut on the directions of the CM.

Claiming that political murders were not rare any more in Sikkim, he reassured the people that even if he were to be killed, the movement begun by SKM will not stop.

Mr Tamang went on to claim that only 10% of approved budgets ever get used for developmental projects and that it was now time for the people to enquire after the 90% that was pilfered away.

He also repeated the SKM allegation of the CM holding properties outside the State and even the country.

As for the recent announcements made by the Government, he questioned how the State Government plans to complete these tasks in the few months left till the elections when it has dragged its feet for the entire term in office.

Mr Tamang also announced today that an SKM Government would form development boards for all the communities of Sikkim and will also start teaching Sanskrit in schools in all constituencies.

He also mentioned that the Limboo and Tamang communities will not get their reserved seats before the 2019 elections as the State government has not been sincere on this issue.

He also announced that an SKM government will open a degree college and a hospital in Jorethang for South and West Districts.

The SKM party president also offered prayers at Jorethang Bazaar Mandir before the inauguration and was accompanied by a large number of the party workers who joined him in a round of Jorethang bazaar.
