West District Hospital upgraded
Gyalshing, 21 Dec [IPR]: Health Minister Arjun Kumar Ghatani, inaugurated three key sections, including Intensive Care Unit, Upgradation of Laboratory and Opthalmology (Eye) unit, at District Hospital, Gyalshing, today.
He was accompanied by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Health, Vishal Chauhan, Principal Director, Dr PT Bhutia, MD NHM, Dr Bimal Kr. Rai, District Collector West, Dr AB Karki, Additional Chief Engineer, CM Khatiwara, Director Health Services, Dr Jigme Tobgay, Chief Medical Officer West, Dr Tsheten Namgyal, Officials, Panchayats and others.
At the outset, the Minister inaugurated the upgraded medical laboratory, now well equipped with Semi Auto Analyser, Elisa Washer, Elisa Reader, HBA-1, Electrolyte Analyser, Mixture Roller, Refrigerator in Laboratory and incubator and Hot Air Oven in Blood Storage Centre.
Thereafter, he inaugurated the Intensive Care Unit in the district hospital where a Cardio Monitor and ECG machines have been installed.
Later, he inaugurated the upgraded Eye unit where eye operation instruments and OT equipment including Non contact Tonometer, Indirect Opthalmoscope, A-Scan, three sets of Bipolar Cautary, four sets of Micro Surgical Cataract sets, DCR sets have been installed to upgrade the existing facilities.
After the series of inauguration, the Health Minister chaired a meeting with the healthcare professionals and congratulated the entire medical fraternity for the remarkable upgradation and notable improvements in the working system.
He also announced a Blood Bank and Dialysis unit at the District Hospital Geyzing, immediately.
He shed light on infrastructure development of PHCs, PHSCs, CHC and District Hospital along with other health centres in the state. He also underlined ongoing construction of 50 bedded AYUSH Hospital and 30 bedded TB Hospital in Geyzing. He instructed concerned officials to complete construction of TB Hospital latest by Feb 2019 and highlighted the various initiatives taken up by the state government to combat Tuberculosis under the leadership and guidance of the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling.
He detailed the efforts of the State Government to provide required manpower and expressed happiness over the recent development in terms of manpower including Specialists, Medical Officers, Staff Nurses in the district hospital and urged everyone to extend medical services with complete dedications, sense of cooperation and team work for the welfare of the patients.
Mr Chauhan, in his address, said that the department was continuously working to improve medical facilities in all the health centres along with the district hospitals.
He added that the Doctors, Staff Nurses and paramedics are the heart and soul of a hospital and urged everyone for sincerity, punctuality and dedication to deliver duty with full responsibility.
He encouraged staff nurses to join training programmes with doctors to achieve success in every medical case. Further, he urged the healthcare professionals to remain familiar and well acquainted with upgraded technology.
Besides, the Health minister also visited ongoing construction of 30 bedded TB Hospital and 50 bedded AYUSH Hospital which is on the verge of completion.
He instructed concerned contractor to complete construction by AYUSH Hospital by Jan 2019 and TB Hospital by Feb 2019 without compromising on quality.
The Health Minister also visited the construction site of the ANM Training Centre-cum-Hostel at Kyongsa.
