Governor attends annual function of Sikkim Kalyan Ashram
Gangtok, 27 Dec:
Governor, Ganga Prasad, today attended the Annual Function-cum-Parivar Milan function at Sikkim Kalyan Ashram, Ranipool.
The function had the presence of All India Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram joint general secretary, Vishnu Kant, president Sikkim Kalyan Ashram, P.S Subba, other executive members, representatives of various NGOs, teachers, students and inmates of the Ashram, special invitees and well-wishers, informs a press communiqué from Raj Bhavan.
Seven personalities from various walks of life were felicitated by the Governor for their invaluable contribution towards Sikkim Kalyan Ashram and its initiatives.
Addressing the function, the Governor expressed his pleasure on getting the opportunity to attend Parivar Milan and meet the inmates, management and well-wishers of the Sikkim Kalyan Ashram. He stated that Sikkimese society has always exemplified brotherhood, harmony and mutual respect among various communities and religious groups.
Appreciating the objectives of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, the Governor mentioned that Kalyan Ashram, through its various initiatives, is working towards strengthening social fabric and national integration.
In order to ensure that our society remains united and conscious towards their national duties as citizen of this great country, we must rise above the linguistic, religious and regional barriers, the Governor added.
Lauding the efforts of donors and well-wishers who have contributed to the Ashram in the past, the Governor also urged everyone to join hands and contribute generously to the Yagna of nation building.
The Governor also donated 30 blankets to the inmates of the Ashram and cash grant of Rs 25,000 during the function. The program had colourful cultural presentations and Veda Path and was also addressed by various speakers.
