Tarey Bhir to host Kite Festival

Namchi, 27 Dec:

The picturesque Tarey Bhir in Sadam, South Sikkim is all set to host a Kite festival from 31 Dec to 01 Jan.

According to Chairperson, Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation, Rup Narayan Rai informed that the Kite festival aims to make Tarey Bhir a major tourist destination.

Further he informed that president, Kite Society of Ahmedabad, Ujjwal Saha, will be the judge for the competition which will also have cash prizes.

Chief Minister Pawan Chamling is scheduled to attend the event as the chief guest.

President, Kite festival organising committee, Milan Gurung stated that many artists will also perform during the festival and helicopter joyride will also be on offer.

They further informed that Tarey Bhir will see more growth with paragliding being developed along with eco-friendly accommodation.

Tarey Bhir is one of the most beautiful view points in Sikkim with mesmerising views of surrounding mountains in South, West and East Sikkim along with neighbouring Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts of West Bengal.
