Gangtok, 06 Jan:
Sikkim Krantikari Morcha today rejected the recent announcements of the State Government as “age-old tactics” of the Sikkim Democractic Front at the cusp of elections.
And SKM press release issued by its general secretary (Press & Publicity), Bikash Basnet, contends that there was even “unanimous suspicion” among the people that this “populist political rhetoric” was designed as “an instrument of instant gratification… to quell the collective aspirations of the people”.
The release goes on to allege that several such announcements prior to the 2014 elections were “short-lived” and that delivery on some of them was still due.
“Fake allotments, BPL Rice, Free Laptops for students were a few amongst the many announcements that became temporary appeasing tools,” the release states.
“When State Administration/ Competent Authority issues notification, it is done with a purpose to achieve something. But ironically here in Sikkim notifications are issued to meet the short term political goals. Notifications here come with an expiry date,” the release further alleges, while going to allege that regularisation of services of temporary employees has been announced, put on hold and announced again in the recent past in tempo with election cycles.
