Gangtok, 06 Jan:

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party president, PS Tamang [Golay], interacted with party workers of East district here at Deorali today.

The meeting was attended by CLC presidents of all constituencies of East Sikkim and representatives from zonal levels along with working president, MP Subba, senior vice president, TN Dhakal, secretary general Arun Uprety, vice president Nakul Das Rai and other senior leaders of the party.

An SKM press release informs that representatives from the 12 constituencies of East District and Tumin Lingee constituency placed report from their respective constituencies along with suggestions and important issues.

The release mentions that the meeting agreed that SKM’s position in East District was stronger than in 2014 when the party had won eight seats here even without strong organizational base here.

The release informs that the party president stressed that party workers should take the truth to the people and make people aware about the false assurances and election-centric announcements of the SDF Government and party.

He appealed to the party workers to work together to generate wider awareness among the people to bring about change.

Mr Tamang further stated that the party has not chosen any candidates from any constituency and that the people would select their candidates. He informed that SKM will give party tickets to candidates selected by the people and not hand them out as favours like the SDF does.

He stressed the need to further strengthen the constituency-level and ward-level committees and reach out to the people with the policies and principles of the party.

He further announced that the SKM will release two election manifestos, one for individual constituency-level and another for general announcements. He added that SKM will celebrate its 6th foundation day in grand manner in East Sikkim.

Mr Tamang also scoffed that SDF has begun distributing blankets. On the same, he added that the people should accept these blankets as it was not from any individual but from public money. He stated that SKM had distributed blankets to 100 families of Karzee on the birth anniversary of former CM the late NB Bhandari in 2018 and now the ruling party has copying the gesture. He also announced that SKM will also distribute blankets to families in need.
