Newa language course begins in Singtam
Singtam, 06 Jan:
A month-long Basic Newa Language Learning and Speaking Course began here today.
46 members of the Newa community from in and around Singtam enrolled for the classes being held at the Singtam Senior Secondary School.
Organised by the Newa Bhay Bowneykuti, Singtam, classes are being held in two shifts – in the mornings for students and the self employed and late afternoon classes for those who are employed.
Deo Kumari Pradhan, a senior social worker, was present as the chief guest today accompanied by Krishna Chettri, president, Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti, as guest of honour.
Bikash Pradhan, Coordinator, Newar Language Section, HRDD, has designed the course being taught Babita Pradhan, Nirmala Pradhan, Tara Pradhan and Meena Pradhan.
