Mohammad Mazaruddie and Ranjana Tamang win Sikkim Great Run in Jorethang
Jorethang, 13 Jan:
Mohammad Mazaruddie today won the Great Run [10KM] segment of Sikkim Run held here today in the 11-17 boys’ category. In the girls category, Ranjana Tamang bagged the first position followed by Sabina Rai and Siksha Rai in second and third positions. Similarly, Riwaj Chhetri and Abhinash Deokota came second and third in the boys category.
In the half Marathon of 21 kms in the age group of 18 to 45 years, the first position was grabbed by Bikash Bhujel with Saroj Mangar and Prabal Chhetri coming second and third.
In women’s category, Chandrakala bagged the first position followed by Preeity Rai and Eaksahang Limbu.
Similarly, in the Dream Run of 5kms in the age group of 18 and above, Sheikh Mizaz finished first, followed by Prashant Rai and Poonam Cintury.
Additionally, in the Veterans’ Run of 10kms in the age group of 45 and above, in the men’s category Subarna Subba came first, followed by Kamal Thapa and Karma Tshering Bhutia in the second and third positions respectively.
Also today, Susan Bhutia was felicitated in the Veteran women’s category as were the youngest runner Master Behang Subba and the oldest runner MK Pradhan.
One guest participant from Sweden, Cavl Joacim Aslim was also felicitated.
The 5th Sikkim Run was flagged off by Minister AK Ghatani, and has been organised by Zest, a Gangtok-based NGO, in collaboration with the Maghey Mela Celebrations Committee 2019 as a prelude to the Maghey Mela Celebrations here.
The Sikkim Run was also supported by Self Help Groups, entrepreneurs and local community along with Government of Sikkim.
