Rimbi Maghey Mela begins
Gyalshing, 13 Jan (IPR): UD&HD Minister NK Subba inaugurated the Rimbi Maghey Mela, which is also being pegged as an Eco Tourism Festival, at Sewaro Rock Garden at Rimbi here in West Sikkim today.
The Minister was accompanied by Yuksam MLA Sonam Dadul Bhutia, chairperson Social Welfare CB Gurung; ADC West Karma L. Lepcha along with SDM and BDO Yuksam and HoDs of line departments posted in West District.
The Mela features various cultural programs, stalls of Sikkimese ethnic groups and also departmental stalls of Election Department, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, KVK and Social Welfare Departments.
In his address, the Minister commended how efficiently the program was conducted and also called on the people to work with the District authorities to ensure that the peace of the area was not disturbed. He also urged the youth to be more enthusiastic about the festival and enjoy responsibly.
The MLA also acknowledged help received from the District officials who helped them to make the event a success.
A stall dedicated to the EVMs and VVPAT awareness and sensitization by the Election Department of West Sikkim was one of the chief attractions with more than 100 mock votes cast on the first day by visitors.
