Gangtok, 22 Jan (IPR): A video-conference of the Chief Secretaries, Chief Electoral Officers, Director General of Police and senior officials of twelve States (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharastra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and West Bengal) was organized by the Election Commission of India this afternoon.
Chief Secretary AK Shrivastava made a comprehensive presentation to the ECI on key areas of preparations in the State for the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
A comprehensive review of agendas and strategies preparedness of the States prior to General Election 2019 was conducted through video conference by Election Commissioner of India, Sunil Arora.
Different aspects of conducting the election, including availability of budget, manpower, resources, SVEEP, planning, polling station arrangements and IT applications, including security, were discussed in detail and the preparedness of States on each of these parameters assessed.
Mr Arora informed that very soon officials from Election Commission of India will visit all the twelve States to take stock of the preparedness.
