SATA team leaves for Kyorugi and Poomsae nationals in Hyderabad


Gangtok, 22 Jan:

A 28-member team of Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association [SATA] is representing Sikkim at the 35th National Sub-Junior Kyorugi and 9th National Sub-Junior Poomsae Taekwondo Championship, 2019 to be held at GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad from 27–30 Jan, 2019.

The State team left for the tournament today accompanied by Sanjay Subba, Saroj Gurung and Pempa Doma Tamang as team coaches and Chandra Mukhia as team manager.

The team underwent a two-week coaching camp at White Hall complex for the championship.

At a function held here at White Hall complex on Tuesday, SATA executive members conveyed their best wishes to the team and encouraged them to give their best to win medals for the State.

“Around 60% of the team is participating for the first time in a national level championship. All are in a good form though and all set to give their best in the championship. We are very hopeful for more medals for the State this time,” SATA assistant chief coach, Rajen Subba, expressed.

SATA has thanked the Chief Minister for his support to the association.
