Gyalshing, 24 Jan [IPR]: Lok Sabha MP, PD Rai, today visited the District Hospital to assess the progress and the state of the health facilities available there. He led a thorough inspection of the hospital along with District Collector Dr AB Karki, CMO Dr T Namgyal and other officials.
He interacted with the patients and Medical staff whilst checking the various facilities, the Chief Medical Officer informs.
He then explained that his surprise visit to the District Hospital was to check on the ground reality of treatment provided to patients and the various medical tests available for the public.
He mentioned that the State has always given priority to Health and Education, hence the visit was necessary.
The MP took assessment of the existing facilities, which are as per the Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) norms and after a thorough assessment, stated that significant improvement has been made by the Department of Health while keeping West District on priority.
He expressed satisfaction with the available infrastructure, manpower and equipment in the District Hospital Gyalshing.
The MP later visited the 8th Mile area of Gyalshing to inspect the recently constructed water distribution chamber there.
The MP also interacted with the residents of 8th Mile area whilst handing over drinking water connection orders to them in the presence of DC West, Chairperson (GMC), DE (PHE) and the local gentry.
The water-distribution chamber, funded under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme is all set to cater to the needs of around 70 households.
