Sangha MLA’s language exposes SKM as a party: SDF

GANGTOK, 08 Feb:

Sikkim Democratic Front has strongly criticised and condemned the inappropriate language used by Sangha MLA of Sikkim KrantikariMorcha,Sonam Lama against the Chief Minister in his recent address during SKM’s foundation day celebration. The ruling party has said that the language of the MLA proves theundisciplined, anarchic and violent nature of SKM.

Addressing a press conference here today, SDF general secretary [press & publicity],KavitaSubbasaid that it is embarrassing to call the Sangha MLA a monk when he uses such foul language. By accusing a leader who has been the CM with the people’s mandate for 25 years, that too in such language, he has accused the people who gave their mandate to the CM, she added.

Who has given the right to the Sangha MLA to say that the CM should be dragged out ofMintokgang after three months, she questioned further adding that the statement reveals the MLA’s feudal thoughts. Politics should be creative and productive but the opposition has always engaged in personal attacks, spreading propaganda and conspiracies, she said.

Speaking on women’s empowerment, Ms Subba stated thatSKM can never understand the work of SDF in women’s empowerment. She added that a broad and open mind is required to accept and understand the work of SDF in providing equality, protection and empowerment of women in Sikkim.

The press conference was also addressed by SDF general secretaries, Amber Rai and Krishna Lepcha.
