Mainline taxi drivers group not in favour of bandh
Gangtok, 25 Feb:
A section of the mainline taxi drivers of Gangtok have said that they will not support the bandh called by Sikkim Krantikari Morchafor 28 Feb. They have asked the State government to provide protection to drivers who want to ply their vehicles on the day.
This was announced by a section of Mainline Drivers Welfare Association at a press conference held today.
A member of the association, Dal Bahadur Subba,asked drivers not to support this bandh and to run their vehicles on 28 Feb. He mentioned that such a bandh would affect their livelihood to a great extent.
“Such bandhs can create more complications in the future and negatively affect tourism and transportation sector of the State,” he said.
He stated that all drivers are not with SKM but are just afraid to ply their vehicles on 28 Feb. He mentioned that around 60 drivers of the association are ready to ply their vehicles on the day of the bandh.
